Ottawa, 16 July 2019—Deputy Auditor General Andrew Hayes has been appointed Interim Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development (CESD). From 2015 to 2018, he was a member of the OAG’s performance audit practice, and led performance audits on the environment and sustainable development, and on the administration of justice in the Canadian Armed Forces. Mr. Hayes became responsible for the OAG’s Legal Services team in January 2018, and he was appointed Deputy Auditor General by former Auditor General of Canada Michael Ferguson in November 2018.

Prior to joining the OAG, Mr. Hayes worked for a large national law firm with a litigation practice focusing on administrative law and employment law.
