Media Advisory—Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development to present a collaborative report on climate change on Tuesday, 27 March 2018

Ottawa, 14 March 2018—On behalf of the auditors general of most provinces as well as the Auditor General of Canada, the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development, Julie Gelfand, will be presenting a collaborative report titled “Perspectives on Climate Change Action in Canada: A Collaborative Report from Auditors General” for tabling in the House of Commons on Tuesday, 27 March 2018.

This collaborative report builds on audit work released over the last 18 months in most provinces, in the three northern territories, and at the federal level to provide an overall assessment of whether federal, provincial, and territorial governments have met their commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and adapt to climate change. The collaborative report will provide an independent, big picture review of the state of governmental actions on climate change commitments across the country.

Access to the Report: Around 10:00 am (eastern timeET)

The Report will be made available on the Office of the Auditor General of Canada website immediately following tabling.

Media availability: From 1:30 pm (ET)

The Commissioner, auditors general from certain provinces, and a spokesperson on the territorial audits will hold a technical briefing via webinar—and only via webinar—for reporters from across the country to answer media questions.
